Apart From Buhari, All Other APC Leaders Are Corrupt – PDP

http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is on the same page with the federal government in the fight against corruption, but asked that due process must be followed to ensure that innocent citizens are not victimised.
The party, which admitted that President Muhammadu Buhari was not corrupt, however, called for the probe of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders whom it said were the “worst corrupt set of Nigerians”.
The PDP in a statement issued by Olisa Metuh, its spokesman, on Tuesday said the clarification had become necessary to remove any misconception that it was against the decision of the present administration to probe some past officials of government because they are members of the party.
“The PDP supports the decision of the federal government to fight corruption in our country.
However, we make bold to state that it should not be used as a guise to victimize innocent citizens. Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria and no citizen, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic affiliation should be denied access to due process and the rule of law in the process,” it said.
“In the same vein, we want to state categorically that the anti-corruption war, whilst targeted at the immediate past administration should not by any means be blind to the impunity of the present leaders of the country either in terms of borrowing and spending without recourse to the statutory arms and organs of government and dictates of transparency and accountability, or in terms of nepotism in appointments in key institutions such as INEC and the DSS.
“The anti-corruption effort must not be blind to the corrupting of the security system resulting in the intrusion by over-zealous operatives on issues bordering purely on politics; the hounding, arrest and detention of resident electoral officers and members of election tribunals in Rivers, Akwa Ibom and other PDP states.
“Furthermore we make bold to state that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. In that regard therefore, we advice members of the APC blowing the horn ahead of the cart to keep quiet because many of them have been major beneficiaries of corruption and sleazes associated with themselves and their allies, especially one of them who as a disguised errand boy of a well known APC leader is a major beneficiary of the largesse of perpetrators of corruption.
“Apart from Mr President, who for now, is not associated with any sleaze or corrupt activity in this democracy, most APC leaders are still those who as governors, ministers and labour leaders have been the worst corrupt set of Nigerians ever to bestride the political landscape of the country.
“It is a great miscarriage of perception therefore for APC leaders who are perpetrators of sleazes and corrupt acts to attempt to deceive Nigerians with imaginary holiness in this anti-corruption war by the president.
“Consequently, we counsel Mr President, as the leader of the APC to remove the log in the eyes of his party while we support his commitment to remove the speck from the eyes of others.

Chai!!! Father Poisons Baby To Divorce Wife

A 41-day-old baby, Zainab Olajide, has died after she was allegedly poisoned by her father, Kazeem Olajide, in a desperate attempt to divorcehis wife.
The incident happened at about 7am on Friday at Toluwalase Estate, Ijoko-Abule, in the Lemode area of Ogun State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the mother, Abosede Ogundare, had left Zainab with Kazeem to sweep the compound only to come back and met the baby with foams gushing out from her mouth.
It was learnt that Ogundare alerted neighbours to the incident having found a bottle containing pesticide with her husband.
Zainab was said to have been rushed to a hospital in the community, where she eventually died.
Our correspondent learnt that the suspect, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, attempted to flee, but was held by residents, while the landlord of the house reported the case to the monarch of the community, Oba Solomon Sokunbi.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the father was handed over to policemen at the Agbado Police Division after he confessed to the crime before the monarch.
The couple’s residence was locked up when our correspondent visited the community on Tuesday.
A resident, who identified himself only as Biodun, said Kazeem had been threatening to divorcehis wife before the baby’s untimely death.
He said, “He doesn’t love the woman and has been trying to divorceher. He poisoned the innocent baby to actualise his mission. They recently moved to this estate. She was their only child.”
The landlord of the house, who did not want his name in print, said the suspect had denied being Zainab’s father prior to the incident.
He said, “Three days before the incident, Kazeem (Olajide) was looking for a pair of his slippers. When he did not find it on time, he started raining curses. I called him by his daughter’s name, and tried to caution him, but he warned me not to call him by her
name again. It was when the incident happened that I realised he might have intentionally killed the child.”
Sokunbi, the Oba of Ijoko-Lemode, said Kazeem owned up to the act, claiming that he was pushed by the devil. He said he had been following the case to ensure that the suspect was brought to justice.
He said, “It was the landlord who came to report the case to me and I directed my chiefs to bring him and the wife to the palace. I asked the husband and he confessed. He said it was the handiwork of the devil.
“I called the police from the Agbado Police Division to arrest him. They said he had been transferred to the state command headquarters. I have been following the case. This is a pure murder case and I want the police to duly prosecute the suspect and let him face the law.”
The monarch added that Kazeem’s wife told him in the presence of his chiefs that she saw the bottle with him two days before the incident.
He said, “The woman thought the bottle contained herbs. She said she left the child with him to sweep the compound, only to return and met Zainab gasping and foaming in the mouth. She said she
smelled pesticide in the baby’s mouth.”
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the case had been transferred to the command headquarters, adding that Zainab’s remains had been deposited in a mortuary.
Adejobi said, “The corpse of the baby has been deposited in a mortuary. The case has been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation for further investigation.
“We have the suspect with us and he is going to be properly investigated. He and others found culpable in the course of our investigation will be charged to court.”

7 effective ways to prevent jealousy from ruining your relationship

To be jealous makes you human but when it becomes too excessive, it could cause irreparable damage to your relationship and self-esteem.
Jealousy-1
Jealousy could scatter your thoughts in different parts and bring out the ugliness in you. But to curb it,  you’ll need to collect and rearrange the way you think.
As difficult as it is, you’ll have to train and practice how to think differently and you’ll be be surprised that it’ll be a part of you in no time. No matter how bad your emotions get, you’re strong enough to control them.
  1. Work on your relationships: If you truly trust that your partner will never leave you or #cheat on you, then there’s nothing to be jealous about. Even if a #beautiful girl pops up on TV or walks by in a bar, the thought of going after her won’t cross his mind. That’s why the best way to get rid of your jealousy is to take a close #look at your relationship and work on fixing the reasons why you’re doubting your man’s faithfulness.
  2. Change your appearance: If you get jealous of every girl you see with #beautiful hair, head to the salon to get yours cut. If you get jealous of celebrities who live in mansions, put in a lot of effort at work so you can get a promotion and save up your #money for a nice house of your own
  3. Ignore your bad qualities: Make a list of the things that you like about yourself, and what you don’t like about yourself. Now, for the next week, avoid looking at those negative #things when you walk past a mirror. Only allow yourself to #look at the beautiful aspects of yourself. When you start viewing yourself as pretty, you’ll stop being so jealous of every beauty queen you see.
  4. Don’t compare yourself to others: What’s the point in comparing yourself to the celebrities you see on magazines or the strangers you see on the street? You aren’t entering a competition against them. They’re just normal #people like you are, so there’s no reason to judge them (or yourself).
  5. Become inspired by other girls: If you see a #woman with a cute shade of lipstick on, don’t be jealous of her. Ask her where she got it so you can buy it yourself. Instead of being jealous of the pretty #things you see, use them as motivation. Allow #beautiful women to inspire you to buy new makeup products and outfits.
  6. Find the root of the cause: Why exactly are you jealous of the valedictorian of your school? Is it because you wish you could go to a good #college like she will, because you wish you could give a speech in front of everyone like she will, or because your parents are disappointed that you didn’t do as well as she did? Once you find the root of the problem, it’ll be easier to fix it.
  7. Focus on yourself: If you have a severe issue when it comes to jealousy, it’s probably due to your own insecurities. That’s why you should take some time for yourself in order to figure out how you could build your self-esteem. The more #time alone you have, the more you’ll learn to love yourself. Once you do, your jealousy will disappear.

4 Ways To Deal With A Partner Who Doesn’t Want Marriage

blackcouple
You want him to put a ring on it. These 4 steps will help you know if he’s really meant to …
You’ve dated, spent time in relationships that didn’t work out, waited, and then found … “the one.”
After years of “kissing frogs” you finally met your prince—your soulmate. Life together is great, but the happily ever after you imagined just isn’t happening.
You’ve dropped hints and even bluntly stated your wish to get married, but your “one true love” just isn’t biting. What gives?
First, get out of fairy tale world and into the real one.
By that I don’t mean give up on your goal of getting married (if that is what you want then you shouldn’t settle for less). If you do settle, your resentment will ultimately destroy whatever chance of success your relationship has. Starting off a relationship with either of you giving up something that truly matters to you is a recipe for disaster.
So, what should you do instead if you want to get married and your soulmate doesn’t?
1. Examine what’s behind your desire to get married in the first place.
Being absolutely clear on what your goal is and why you have it is critical if you ever hope to get someone else to adopt this goal as their own. You also can’t objectively evaluate your current relationship for how it measures up to what you want if you aren’t sure of what that really is.
Marriage is a wonderful relationship, but only when it happens with clear intention and the understanding of what it truly is.
The reason for the failure of many marriages is that this information, and the commitment necessary to implement it, is missing for so many couples. Because people ‘don’t know what they don’t know’ about marriage, it often becomes a case of the blind leading the blind right over the cliff of divorce.
Marriage, as an institution, gets blamed, rather than the lack of preparation for it; the common fear of failing at it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
2. Talk to your partner.
Once you have an understanding of what marriage is all about, then you must talk to your reluctant partner about their objections to moving in that direction.
Maybe you are already living together and they don’t see any reason to make it a more structured, permanent relationship. Maybe a previous experience with marriage was unpleasant—either their own or someone close to them—and they can’t envision a scenario where it would actually work.
Or, maybe there is some other reason that you won’t know about until you have a calm, open discussion with them.
Finding out where they see your relationship going is a critical part of this. The goal is to understand their aversion to marriage, not trying to talk them out of how they feel about it.
3. Share your reasons for wanting to get married.
After you get their take on marriage as a concept and their goal for your relationship long-term, you have information you can take action on. Sharing your reasons for wanting to get married is a necessary next step and will be both respected and encouraged if your partner truly is your soulmate.
The inability to have both of these conversations is a warning sign that should never be ignored.
4. Step back and evaluate everything you’ve learned.
Think about everything you now know about yourself and your partner as it relates to marriage.
One sign of maturity is the ability to process information that is different from what you hoped it would be. And one sign of a healthy relationship is the capacity to make decisions that support both of you as individuals, and the relationship as well.
This means knowing what you can make room for in your life and in the relationship, and what you can’t. If, for you, building a life with someone requires that marriage be at the foundation, then you may not accept simply living together, no matter how great the relationship is.
Getting caught up in the idea of a soulmate, instead of focusing on the real person in front of you, is neither mature nor healthy.
If your definition of a soulmate involves someone who makes you feel entirely whole, healed, and intact, then it’s possible your partner can accept marriage as a means to having you in his or her life. If they can’t, re-evaluating your placement of them in that vaunted position.
I get why the idea of a soulmate is so attractive.
The idea that there is one person who is ideally suited to you and who “gets you” from the moment you meet, is intoxicating and romantic. And, it may even be real.
But, if someone is so different from you on this very important life question, then either the concept of a soulmate (or the idea that this person is yours) might warrant a second look.
Either way, choosing to give up your goal of marriage, or walking away from a good relationship that won’t end up there, is too important to base on something that seems like a fairy tale.

See The List: The 10 Highest Paid African Presidents 2015

https://i.onthe.io/
It is well-known that Africa is a continent with a high potential and extremely rich natural resources. Can you imagine how rich African countries’ leaders are?
The Africa Review notes that only a few countries make public what they pay their leaders and in many African countries, the first thing leaders do when they come into power is to increase their pay.
“In Egypt, for instance, the president’s pay shot up from a paltry $280 per month, put in place by the austere Mohammed Morsy administration, to $5,900 per month just before General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi predictably won an election,”it states.
The source says that some leaders take a disproportionate share of the national income for their personal use.
“In Morocco, the Treasury spends, by one account, $1 million a day for King Mohammed VI’s 12 royal palaces and 30 private residences. That is on top of $7.7 million spent on an entourage of royal automobiles, and a monthly salary of $40,000 paid to the monarch,”the estimates show.
According to the analysis some presidents have deceptively small salaries but have, personally or through family members, massive control over their countries’ resources.
The source says:“For example, President Eduardo dos Santos has a modest monthly salary of $5,000 but is widely believed to control a lot of the wealth produced from Angola’s oil-industry, and his family members own some of the biggest enterprises in the country.”
However, it should be noted that salaries do not tell the whole story and some of the presidents believed to have the highest personal wealth, do not even feature in the top 10.

WAEC threatens to withhold results of students in 19 states over N4bn debt

The West Africa Examinations Council, WAEC has threatened to withhold the results of students in 19 states that sat for the May/June 2015 WASSCE over nonpayment of candidates’ registration fees by their state governments.

Different state Governments had pledged to pay the WAEC fees of their state residents as part of their education policy but have so far failed to do so.

The Head of National Office WAEC, Mr Charles Eguridu made the threat at a press conference today July 27th. He said the state governments are indebted to WAEC to the tune of N4 billion.
“The affected states should off-set the registration fees of their candidates as soon as possible, as we cannot guarantee that the results of their candidates for the May/June 2015 WASSCE will be released alongside others. Many of the states of the federation, as part of their education policy, pay the registration fees of candidates for the WASSCE, particularly in the public schools. This is quite commendable as it afforded many indigent students the opportunity to sit for our examinations and relieved many poor parents of this financial burden. As I speak to you now, we are cash-strapped as a result of the delay in off-setting the registration fees owed the Council by some states. As a result, we are finding it difficult in meeting our financial obligations, particularly to our supervisors, examiners and service providers. We have written to the affected states governments without any response. The poor response is threatening the smooth operations of the Council.”he said
