Adepoju warn Eagles:Don’t underrate Swaziland, Djibouti

Former Nigeria international Mutiu Adepoju says the Super Eagles should be on alert to stop either Swaziland or Djibouti wreaking havoc when the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers begin.

The 2013 African champions got an easy draw in the second round of the race to Russia, but the former Real Sociedad midfielder feels Nigeria should be aware of the strength of their rivals heading into qualifier, while also calling for early preparation.

Wole Soyinka Praises Edo Governor Oshiomhole

Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka has described the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as “a worthy ambassador” of the nation’s “progressives” community.

A few days ago, Oshiomhole and his wife Iara paid a courtesy visit to Soyainka and his wife, Folake Soyinka, at their Abeokuta home.

President Buhari To Eliminate Illegal Miners

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that his government will not tolerate illegal mining and other improper activities that suppress the growth of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
The president gave the warning after receiving a briefing from top officials of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, led by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk.

Post UTME Will Soon Be Scraped- JAMB Registrar

The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof Dibu Ojerinde has predicted that Post-UTME screening exercise organized by higher institutions in Nigeria with soon stop following the introduction of the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Ojerinde said the reason for this is that the Computer Based mode of UTME had helped to completely eradicate examination malpractice.

Tony Elumelu Goes On Boat Cruise with Akon, Omoni Oboli

The Senegalese-American musician Akon is currently visiting Nigeria and has been hanging out with some of the country’s top financial big-wigs and some entertainers.

   

Akon visited the chairman of United Bank for Africa and founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony Elumelu.Elumelu took Akon on a boat cruise that included Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli, rapper and producer Jesse Jagz as well as singer and founder of EME record label, Banky W.

Tony Elumelu and Akon had met earlier this month in Abidjan, Cote D’Iviore during the Africa Energy Leaders Group.

Akon recently launched an academy aimed at training people on energy production. The academy is part of his Akon Lighting Africa initiative. He is in Nigeria to promote his project and apart from Elumelu, also visited the Lagos state governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The singer plans to use solar energy to hopefully provide 600 million Africans with electricity.

The Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick has fired back at those who criticised his trip to England to watch the Community Shield game between Arsenal and Chelsea rather than watching any of the two Nigerian teams that were involved in international matches on Sunday.

The U-23 Eagles and the Super Falcons were involved in matches leading up to the Rio 2016 Olympic games on Sunday. Some Nigerians who spoke on different radio and television programmes insisted that it would have made better sense if Pinnick had settled for the Enyimba/Rangers match in Aba rather than the game in London, which he watched with the new Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh.

But Pinnick, who was spotted via a picture posted on Twitter during the game in Wembley, said on Monday that it became necessary for him to respond to the barrage of criticisms to make the critics understand that he was in London for business.

Kanu happy with U-23 team, Arsenal victories

  

former Nigeria international, Nwankwo Kanu, has expressed his excitement over the wins recorded by his former club, Arsenal, and the Nigeria U-23 men’s team on Sunday.

Arsenal defeated Chelsea 1-0 to lift the FA Community Shield while the U-23 team recorded a 2-1 aggregate win over Congo to qualify for the Africa U-23 Championship in Senegal.

The top three teams at the competition will represent Africa at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The 39-year-old expressed his excitement on Twitter following the matches on Sunday.

“Well done Arsenal,” Kanu wrote.

Natural Resource Governance Institutes (NRGI), a non-profit organization, in its report say that the refineries became gradually running down under successive administrations.

NNPC came up with ad-hoc alternatives such as the poorly built crude-for-product swap contracts or exports to select dealers.

Femi Adebayo separated from his wife, Khadijat in 2008 after he reneged on his earlier promise to do acting part time and practise law full time.

When he broke the promise, his wife wasn’t comfortable with his newly found career path, that was how the marriage trouble started.

Few months ago, Adebayo told an interviewer that the marriage crash was caused by him.

In his words:“I made it clear to her that she was not going to marry an actor and that I won’t go deep into acting. I promised I would just do little acting and pay attention to law”.

His new wife is a Maryland based socialite that owns a chain of businesses in Nigeria.
