When a gang of robbers stormed the home of a middle-aged woman identified as Adenike, armed with cutlasses, knives and iron rods, they never knew they would meet their match in the woman as one of them was overpowered by the lady whocollected his weapon and stabbed him to death.
The woman who is currently recuperating from the injuries she got in the scuffle with the hoodlums in a hospital in Lagos, narrated how the miscreants stormed her apartment at about 2 am and ordered her to hand over her valuables and cash or they would kill her.
It was learnt that when the robbers got to Adenike’s apartment, there was a struggle during which one of the robbers, identified as Quadri Iginla, cut her with a knife.
Adenike was said to have wrenched the knife from Iginla, and stabbed him in the stomach. The robbery suspect reportedly lost balance and fell off from the two-storey building.
Neighbours, who learnt of the robbery, were said to have alerted the police from the Adeniji Adele Division. The other suspected robbers reportedly escaped after the police got to the area.
The policemen were said to have rushed Iginla, who was unconscious, to the Lagos Island General Hospital, where he later died, while Adenike was also taken by her family to a private hospital.
Speaking on the incident, the lady husband said the robbers injured his wife in the hand with a knife, adding that there was a struggle during which Iginla was pushed off the building.
He said
“We cannot confirm the number of the robbers. They entered my apartment at about 2 am. One of them injured my wife in the hand and there was a struggle. As this went on, other people called the police and a patrol van was sent to our street.
The robbers quickly fled from the house. One of them, who had sustained a knife injury, fell off the staircases. The policemen took him to a hospital for treatment.”

3 Natural Remedies That Can Help diabetes

Cinnamon
This is perhaps one of the best-known (and widely-researched) treatments for diabetes. Research has found that many of the bioactive ingredients in this popular spice are able to mimic the action of insulin. In other words, they make it easier for glucose to travel from the bloodstream to the cells (where they are needed for energy). This, in turn, prevents high blood sugar and all the problems that can go with it.
Gr*pe seed extract
Many people are not aware of this, but the liver (like the pancreas) plays a big role in regulating blood sugar levels and keeping them in a range that is safe for the body. Gr*pe seed extract can help because it is able to protect and rejuvenate liver tissue and support healthy liver function. This is a very important factor to consider for diabetics.
Bitter melon
Despite the off-putting name, bitter melon is a popular Indian remedy for diabetes and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years for this and many other conditions. It is believed that compounds in bitter melon mimic the action of insulin in the body and can help with natural blood sugar regulation and control.
So consider the natural remedies listed above. They can help diabetics to regulate their blood sugar levels safely and avoid the serious long-term complications like kidney failure that can be so devastating for people with this condition.

Scientists Have Discovered The Cause Of Asthma And Possibly The Cure

Drop your inhaler — you may not need it anymore. Scientists at Cardiff University in Wales say they have found the root cause of asthma, The Telegraph reports. And the discovery could lead to a new treatment for the condition within the next five years.
Using mice and human airway tissue from asthmatic and non-asthmatic people, the team was able to prove that the calcium sensing receptor (CaSR) is the cause of the condition. In asthma patients, the CaSR is overactive and causes the airways to become inflamed and narrow. When this happens, the tell-tale symptoms of asthma occur: coughing, wheezing, the feeling of a tight chest and loss of breath.
After uncovering the cells that are triggering the problem, researchers also realized that drugs already exist that can deactivate these cells and put a stop to all the symptoms. Calcilytics, a calcium receptor antagonist used to treat bone deficiency, could be the answer to asthmatics’ prayers everywhere.
“If we can prove that calcilytics are safe when administered directly to the lung in people, then in five years we could be in a position to treat patients and potentially stop asthma from happening in the first place,” said professor Daniela Riccardi, lead investigator of the study.
If this continued research proves successful, this could be the best news for asthma sufferers yet.

See 6 Ways You Didn’t Know You Could Still Get Pregnant

With the advent of contraceptives, women have more control over when they can get pregnant. At least, that’s the theory. In practice, you can get pregnant at almost any time, until you’ve gone through the menopause. Here’s six surprising examples.
1. When you’re on contraceptives
Although contraceptives drastically lower the risk of becoming pregnant, they aren’t fool proof. The average condom is 98% effective, whereas most hormonal contraceptives are about 99%. Those seem like good odds. However, it still means that out of 100 couples using contraception, at least one will get pregnant. This is why some people “double up” (using both condoms and the pill) to ensure they aren’t in that 1-2%.
2. When you’re menstruating
It’s extremely unlikely to get pregnant during your period, since the hormonal environment isn’t suitable, and Aunt Flow is kind of a mood killer. But extremely unlikely isn’t impossible. Some women have conceived from having unprotected sex on their period, especially if it occurred near the end of their cycle.
3. From, ahem,otherpractices
Without having to spell anything out, and risk becoming a fansite for50 Shades of Grey, non-vaginal intercourse isn’t proof against pregnancy. Of course, it’s still very, veryunlikely, but there’s always an exception to the rule. In fact, one woman actually got pregnant from – how can we put this -“seeking alternate avenues of pleasure,” due a rare medical condition that combined her uterus and rectum.
4. When you’re sterilised
The human body is designed to do three things: sleep, eat and procreate. Whilst it’s possible to interfere with the latter, either by cutting the fallopian tubes, or performing a male vasectomy, our biological imperatives can sometimes beat the system. In rare cases, sterilisations can sometimes become undone. Life finds a way, we guess.
5. Whilst breastfeeding
After giving birth, it’ll probably be a while before you’re back in the mood. For those who are eager to hop back in the saddle, don’t skip contraceptives just because you’re breastfeeding. Although the hormone prolactin interferes with ovulation, it’s not guaranteed.
6. When your partner “pulls out”
For some reason, “pulling out” has become a valid form of birth control, presumably because our government is so against sex-education. A single drop of semen can contain thousands of sperm. Stay in, or pull out: the chances of getting pregnant are pretty much the same, if neither of you is using contraception.

“Be Careful Of Occultic Men” Rev Father Ejike Mbaka Warns Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi

“Be Careful Of Occultic Men” Rev Father Ejike Mbaka Warns Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Yesterday popular Catholic Cleric and the founder of Enugu Adoration Ministry Rev Mbaka, marks his 20 years in the ministry.
mbaka-latest-sermons
Here are some excerpts from his message yesterday:
“I am not tired after 20 years, 20 years of good health; 20 years of miracles from God; 20 years of hard apostolic work; 20 years in the hand of God. There was a time they blackmailed me; they were saying such things like ‘Mbaka why? Mbaka this, Mbaka that’, but I have remained in the hand of God.”
“forgive all those who have fought us on the course of this ministry and bless those who have stood behind us.”
In a special message, entitled, ’20-point agenda,’ Fr. Mbaka said he was praying for President Buhari
“that God will protect him so that enemies will not destroy him. I also pray for Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi so that God will not allow occultic men to steal his vision.”
In a brief chat with journalists, the spokesman of the ministry, Maximus Ugwuoke said blackmail and unnecessary criticisms had rather strengthened the cleric.
According to him:
“Those who are saying he should stay out of politics are misguided. It is part of the role of priests. So, they are merely trying to cow him down but I can tell you that Fr. Mbaka is not somebody to be intimidated; the more they do this, the more he is strengthened.
“In these past years, you can see how God had vindicated him; you can see his prophetic message before the general elections; at a time, he was repeating that prophecy even in the face of threat to his life. So, today, we are celebrating victory against enemies of truth.”

Yoruba Actress Lepa Shandy & Husband Return To Nigeria From London After Marriage Crash Rumour!!!!

Yoruba Actress Lepa Shandy & Husband Return To Nigeria From London After Marriage Crash Rumour. Popular Nollywood actress Folashade Omoniyi Adewale aka Lepa Shandy who left Nigeria several years ago to start a family has returned home after her rumoured marriage crash.folashade-omoniyi-husband
The beautiful mother of two who returned to Nigeria in May has maintained a low profile since her return.

See excerpts from her recent interview with Encomium Weekly

What has been happening to your career since you returned to Nigeria?

Have been away for like a year and also off social scene for quite a while.

Was child bearing the reason why you haven’t been featuring as much as you used to?

Lets be sincere with each other, it’s not only me. It’s the same thing with almost all my peers. As there are seasons in life so there are seasons in the industry as well. When we came in, we pushed some people out of the way, so when others came in, we also had to give them chance. I thank God of still being recognized in and outside the country. Last year when I came back, I still did some jobs before returning to the UK. I thank God Lepa Shandy has become a household identity within and outside the industry. God himself has turned me into a brand.

lepa shandy marriage crashed

Since the last two months you returned, you have been lying low why?

Yes I came in around May but I didn’t want people to know I was back. I thought I could hide a bit but unfortunately, I couldn’t. I got some invites to social functions which I tried not to attend just to get accustomed to the weather here and people around before I start attending events.

What would you say is the problem of the industry?

Piracy has always been our major problem and we have been saying this very long ago, but it seems there is no hope concerning curbing it. And as it’s rightly said, charity begins at home. For us to fight piracy and succeed, we also need to tidy our home first. Take a look at what’s happening in the Yoruba sector of the industry, we have many associations; people are not ready to work together under one umbrella. I was an advocate of one Nollywood. Now, we are still thinking of how Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), ANTP and NANTAP will come together as one and present ourselves as one association before the government.

If we work together, the better but now you can see how many associations we have in the Yoruba and English sectors. The more we are being segregated, the worse the situation of the industry is going to be. Until we come together under one body, there can’t be any way forward. We should all speak with one voice. But if some of us are fighting piracy there are some among us busy collecting bribe, how can we now fight piracy and succeed.

How would you describe your career since you became a mother?

A lot of people will think my career is dwindling, that natural, but personally I think I am going higher. It’s all about what you believe. When you achieve some things, you realize that every other thing follows. I excelled in my career before I got married. There were some problems in between, I overcame them. And I am very happy now. Left to me, happiness should matter first. I think am very okay with my home and career. I am joyous and I give glory to God

Are you saying it never took a toll on your career?

Mere looking at me now, you will know I am a very happy person and I have succeeded. Just expect something bigger from me now by God’s grace. Jobs are coming in now.lepa shandy in nigerialepa shandy back in Nigeria.
