former Nigeria international, Nwankwo Kanu, has expressed his excitement over the wins recorded by his former club, Arsenal, and the Nigeria U-23 men’s team on Sunday.
Arsenal defeated Chelsea 1-0 to lift the FA Community Shield while the U-23 team recorded a 2-1 aggregate win over Congo to qualify for the Africa U-23 Championship in Senegal.
The top three teams at the competition will represent Africa at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The 39-year-old expressed his excitement on Twitter following the matches on Sunday.
“Well done Arsenal,” Kanu wrote.

“Well done our Nigerian Dream Team, well done Siasia and the team.”
He had called for prayers for the team ahead of the match after the first leg, which ended 2-1 in favour of Nigeria in Port Harcourt.
“Let’s pray for our Nigeria Olympic team to win in Congo. I wish Siasia and the team good luck and all the best in the match,” he wrote.
Kanu won gold with the U-23 team at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996 and helped Arsenal win the Community Shield three years later.
