Desmond Elliot was Attacked on his way from Polling Unit

Desmond, who is running for a second term in the assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was attacked at Akerele junction in the Surulere part of the Lagos. 

He was reportedly attacked after he refused to give money to thugs who accosted him at the junction, Premium Times reports.


His car's windscreen was broken but the lawmaker escaped unhurt as supporters at a nearby polling unit, PU20, Ward 7, quickly called for security operatives to rescue him.

It was reported earlier that police in Kano state on Saturday, March 9, intercepted a vehicle loaded with thumb printed ballot papers in Kano metropolis.

The police public relations officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest of the vehicle in an interview in Kano on Saturday.

 He said the vehicle was intercepted at Magwan Polling Unit at Magwan Primary School in Nassarawa local government area of the state. According to him, the Divisional Police Officer from the local government area reported the matter and he was directed to move the vehicle to the police command.

He said the vehicle was under the police custody and investigation had commenced to ascertain the persons behind the act so that they could be prosecuted.
